So, a professional marketing strategist would probably tell us to spread out updates like this. Thankfully for you guys, Patrick doesn't currently have one on staff.
A few hours after I sent out the update yesterday, we got pictures from the factory of the wooden pieces. Check these guys out!
Dear Backers,
This morning we got a wonderful package from our printer containing near final copies of both Root and its expansion. We thought it was only fair to share some pictures with everyone. Our printer (the same we used for Vast) did an exceptional job and the game looks fantastic.
I should note that these particular copies did not include wooden pieces, cardholders, or dice. Because of the way that they are being manufactured, they can't send us a complete set until pretty close to the end of production. I've asked for some in-process photos so hopefully we'll have some more to share soon.
Anyway, without further ado, here are some pictures of the production copies:
Now normally we wouldn't get copies off the line like this until the end of production, but Patrick wanted to make sure I had a copy with me at HeavyCon in Denver and that we would have at least one copy for Origins. For those of you going, feel free to ask me to play.
So, in short, know that everything is going well and on schedule. We cannot wait to get your games to you all!

It is now past May 1st which means that we have now closed our pre-orders on Backerkit so we can finalize numbers to send the factory for production.
On Friday May 4th, we will be locking down orders and charging cards so please make sure you are prepared for the committed charge amounts on your surveys. If there's any error on your charge, no problem—you'll receive an email about it, and you'll have time to fix your form of payment before we near fulfillment.
Once your survey is locked, you'll still be able to change your address via Backerkit. If you need the link to log into your account, please email us at [email protected]. Once the games are loaded onto the boats going to the fulfillment centers, we'll send out a reminder email to make sure your address is correct before we start shipping.
As of this writing, we're happy to report that everything is on schedule and the game is in production. Pictures and further updates will follow in the next week or so.

We sent the team together to work a booth at Pax East, demoing Vast: The Mysterious Manor (!), Vast: The Crystal Caverns and of course, Root. We had a copy of Root in the booth and one in the First Look play area, and both tables were full all weekend! The support and interest in Root is always astounding and incredibly humbling so thank you again to those who believe in the game and came out to support us.
We also want to take the time to appreciate and thank Patrick, Kyle, Cole, Clay, Jake, Josh, Nick, and Caryl for making the trip out to Boston and being troopers for the weekend.

Hi everyone,
This week we are at Pax East in Boston. If you're lucky enough to be at the show, I hope you'll stop by our booth (TT52). We're demoing our final Root prototypes all day. You can also find Patrick and get a demo of the next Vast game, the Mysterious Manor.
We will be out of the office until Monday so we may not be able to answer Kickstarter questions and messages for the next several days.
While at the show, we've also been keeping up with Root's production. At this point, the final files are submitted, and we've approved most of the digital proofs. Hopefully we'll have some more images to share with you soon.
